The Fairview Public Library offers lots of exciting things for children of all ages. Most recently, they welcomed a new face greeting patrons of the Fairview Public Library.

Fairview resident Reah Kelly is the newest staff member at our local branch of the Williamson County Public Library filling a vacancy left when “Miss Linda” Orr returned to family in Texas.

For Fairview branch manager Phillip McAndrew, searching for a replacement to work with children’s programs was a challenge. McAndrew said, “Reah and her family live here in Fairview, and we are very fortunate that she wanted to work closer to home!”

Originally from Florida, Reah earned her Master’s in Library Science at the University of Kentucky. She recently moved from Kentucky to Tennessee with her husband and two children. Formerly the Young Adult Librarian at the Franklin branch, Reah now works on the children’s programs at the Fairview branch.

Preschool Story Time on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. often involves some singing, dancing and reading stories followed by a small craft or activity related to the theme of the stories.

“I love engaging kids in stories, and hearing about their imaginations and observations. I think reading and sharing stories makes us more empathetic people,” said Reah.

Reah oversees a new weekly program at the library for some of our youngest Fairview residents appropriately called “Baby Time” each Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Baby Time is an opportunity for babies age birth to 18 months to visit the library with their caregiverse to enjoy an informal designated playtime.

Baby Time is also a “come and go” program that gives babies a chance to socialize and engage in a different environment, and allows caregivers to connect with others in their community as well. Several other library branches have instituted Baby Time, and the program has been well received by all participants.

Baby Time and Story Time are just two of the many programs for children offered by the Fairview Public Library.

The super popular Toddler Time for ages 18 months to 3 years has also returned in March and it offered on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

March will also offer a special visit from Dennis O’Rourke with Irish Folk Music on Saturday, March 18 at 1 p.m. in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. There is no charge to attend and all ages are welcome.

Of course, youth can also enjoy magic shows, music programs and puppet performances offered throughout the year along with fun clubs.

The Lego Club meets Thursday, March 16 at 4:30 p.m. The Chess Club’s next meeting is Tuesday, March 21 at 5 p.m. The Table Top Games Club will meet this Friday, March 10 from 3-5 p.m.

If you are already thinking summer break, the library offers a summer reading program with fun events once the school year ends.

You can find a calendar of Fairview Public Library events at the library or on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
If you are interested in joining the Friends of the Fairview Library, their monthly meeting will be Saturday, March 18 at 9:30 a.m.
