Track and field season wrapped up in Sumner County this week with the Class A, AA, AAA and Division II championships.

Though the area did not produce an event winner, eight of the county’s 44 state qualifiers ended up with top-four finishes.

Merrol Hyde junior Parker Breitling (800 meter) and Portland’s Will Hester (300 hurdles) were awarded silver medals in their respective events. The runner-up finishes were the best among all county individuals.

White House’s 4×200 relay team (Caroline Cooper, Maddy Hanlon, Emily Tiepelman and Lauren Davis) placed fifth in Class AA for the county’s best relay finish, and Merrol Hyde placed 16th among Class A boys programs for the highest team standing in Sumner County.
