The World Series is coming to Fairview this summer!

Bats are swinging and balls are zinging at the Fairview Ball Park as the Fairview Recreation Association’s 2023 Youth Baseball and Softball Season is underway – and the World Series is coming.

The 2023 FRA Season will see Fairview host the Dixie Softball World Series July 28 through August 4 for the Angels (9/10) and Darlings (7/8) age groups.

According to FRA board member Kelly Hollars, “This is the first time a tournament of this size has been held in Fairview since 1999.” In the coming weeks and months, Hollars advised there will be lots of planning required to make sure Fairview shines in the best possible light as thousands will be in attendance from several states.

Hollars said hosting the World Series will be a great boost to Fairview’s economy. The FRA is looking forward to receiving the “Fairview Proud” support of community businesses, families and organizations as they prepare for the series.

The FRA teams play Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball with games scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The local youth fields will host baseball games for age groups U4 through U12 offering lots of action on the diamond. Softball age groups are 5/6 SweeTees, 7/8 Darlings, 9/10 Angels, 11/12 Ponytails and 13-15 Belles.

Located at 214 Highway 96 North just north of Fairview Boulevard and next door to the Fairview Lions Club, the Fairview Ball Park has been open since 1982 with generations of youth playing among the four fields with concessions, restrooms and playground among the amenities.

The Fairview Recreation Association is an all-volunteer organization that runs the baseball and softball programs in Fairview. For more information on sponsoring the World Series, you can visit www.fairviewrec.com or email fvbaseball@yahoo.com.
