An Ashland City man was sent to the hospital and his wife and daughter were arrested after a bloody altercation in their home on Sweethome Road on Saturday, Jan. 27, after the parties gave vastly different accounts of what occurred.

According to the arrest report, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the home and a neighbor’s residence around 7 a.m.  Upon arriving at the neighbor’s home, deputies found 59-year-old David Davis sitting on the front porch in his underwear with a large, deep gash to his head that was bleeding heavily. Davis reportedly told deputies that his wife, 62-year-old Pamela Kaye Davis, had struck him in the head with a frying pan as he slept, waking him up, following an argument the previous night in which David Davis told his wife he wanted a divorce.

The deputies dispatched to the marital home found two women, Pamela Kaye Davis and 29-year-old Kelly Kaye Davis, the couple’s daughter, in the living room sitting on the floor. Kelly Davis reportedly had superficial lacerations around her neck and body, while the deputies stated Pamela Davis was drifting in and out of consciousness and unable to identify herself at first.

The daughter told deputies that her father had attacked her mother and her with a frying pan and knife and she was able to escape by running out the back door.

Both the mother and father were taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center and Kelly Davis was taken to TriStar Ashland City Medical Center. Kelly told deputies at the hospital that her father had always been controlling and abusive to her mother and her. The daughter stated the father had been telling her mother that he wanted her dead for several weeks. Deputies stated Kelly claimed the altercation among the three had begun the night before.

In the morning, Kelly said she woke up to find her father with a knife coming towards her. She said he then grabbed her hair, forced him into his room, and pushed her on to the bed. According to the report, Kelly Davis said her mother then entered the room and demanded he let Kelly go, and when he would not, Pamela hit him in the head with a frying pan.

The arrest affidavit tells a different story, in which David Davis said his wife and he fought the night before and into the early morning, and when he awoke, his daughter Kelly had struck him in the head with a cast-iron skillet multiple times. David reportedly said his daughter got on top of him with a knife while his wife wrapped a belt around his neck. The man told arresting officers that his daughter screamed profanities at him, saying she was going to kill him, but he was able to escape, but not before being hit in the head again several times. David Davis said he ran across the street in only his underwear to a neighbor’s house, and that neighbor called 911.

Both Pamela and Kelly Davis were being held in the Cheatham County Jail pending a Feb. 7 hearing.
