MJ’s Petricca throws no-hitter



Junior Roman Petricca threw a six-inning no-hitter on Monday, leading Mt. Juliet to a 10-0 win over District 9-4A rival Cookeville at the Mel Brown Athletic Complex.
Petricca struck out 13 Cavaliers and walked just three as the Golden Bears improved to 4-6.
Mt. Juliet broke open a 2-0 game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Rayder Soto ripped a two-run double while Callen Miller added a single and a double to drive in a run.


Friendship Christian 11, MJ Christian 3
Friendship Christian overcame an early deficit with three big innings on the way to a road victory over Mt. Juliet Christian on Monday at Billie Friel Field.
Chase Eakes had a homer and a single to drive in two runs. Elijah Stockton doubled and singled to drive in two.
FCS starter Tate Tidwell went the distance for the win, scattering seven hits and striking out 10.
MJCA was led by Chase Smith who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.


Wilson Central 8, White County 0
Wilson Central won for a third consecutive outing with an 8-0 shutout over White County in the Wilson County Invitational last Friday.
Isaac Schafer had a pair of singles and drove in three runs as the Wildcats improved to 6-3 heading into Wednesday’s 7 p.m. home game vs. Green Hill.
