The Mt. Juliet Parks Department has expanded its summer Farmers Market with the addition of food trucks, more vendors and an Artisan Pavilion.
The Farmers Market is located at the entrance to Charlie Daniels Park. Because of the food trucks, visitors will need to park in the adjacent Mt. Juliet Community Center parking lot.
Mt. Juliet Parks and Rec Event Coordinator Erin Farmer said the market will be open only on Saturdays from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. until the end of October. There are four main food vendors that will show up at the market on a rotating basis — Let’s Eat Catering, Just Love Coffee & Breakfast, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee and Roasted Coconut.
Regular vendors include Walker Produce, Underwood Produce, Ralston (honeys, berries and syrups), Tucker’s International Spices (seasonings, marinades and salsas), Little Belly Farm (pork, chicken, lamb, beef and eggs), Mycota specialty mushrooms, Laurel Mountain (bakery) and Every Tasty Thing (sweet breads and desserts).
Farmer said the Artisan Pavilion will attract visitors with jams, silk flower crafts, microgreens, hand-sewn items and crochet items.
Farmer has planned some nighttime events. A Movie Night is scheduled for Friday, June 2 with “Top Gun: Maverick” being shown around 8:30 p.m. Farmer suggests people come to the park around 6 p.m. for dancing, music and food trucks.
A Market Night is planned for Thursday, June 15 from 6-9 p.m. with 40-plus businesses, a Foam Party with bubbles and kids activities centered around a fire truck.
“That night will be fun for the whole family,” said Farmer. “We have really tried to grow the market and activities this year. It’s going to be an exciting summer in our parks department.”
