Project: Hamilton-Denson Park in front of Victory Baptist Church on Tate Lane is an 8.65-acre park with multiple all-purpose fields. Access to Town Center Greenway is also planned.
Status: Midway through Phase 2. The restrooms are open and the parking lot (90 spaces) is complete. The playground equipment was supposed to be installed early January but was delayed. It was scheduled to be installed this week.
Up next: The city is working on a bid package for the next budget. Mt. Juliet Parks Director Rocky Lee said there will be lighting similar to streetlights at the site. The proposed fencing contractor is Mid-Tenn Fencing.
Architect & Engineer: Civil & Environmental Consultants of Franklin
Contractor: Cleary Construction
Playground installation contractor: Cunningham Recreation
Total project cost: $2.6 million ($1.6 million for Phase 1 and $1 million for Phase 2)
Total grant funding: $550,000 from Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation
Mt. Juliet Parks Director Rocky Lee says: “We keep getting delayed on this project. We have the playground equipment in hand at Mundy Park, but the installers were getting backed up because of that week of snow and other things. They are behind. We are told they would begin installing the playground equipment Feb. 12. The equipment is swings, slides and apparatuses. We are planning a ribbon cutting for the park mid-March.”
