Libby Haraldsen has been awarded the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Excellence in Historic Preservation award. Haraldsen is an experienced Revolutionary War reenactor, representing a spinner of the time period. Having studied artwork and depictions of the time period, she dresses in authentic period costume, usually hand sewn.
As part of her presentation, she discusses the importance of fabric work in the 18th century; and while she spins, she involves children by letting them comb the clean wool.
The Gideon Carr Chapter of the NSDAR is proud to present this award to our member, Elizabeth Haraldsen.
Membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman over the age of 18, regardless of ethnicity, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Information can be found at www.dar.org.
