Soldiers, Families and civilian employees from across the installation gathered Feb. 10 at Wilson Theater to welcome Command Sgt. Maj. Chad E.W. Stackpole as the new garrison senior enlisted adviser during an assumption of responsibility ceremony.
Stackpole said he is excited to work alongside Col. Andrew Q. Jordan, Fort Campbell garrison commander, in support of the more than 8,000 civilian and contract employees who carry out day-to-day operations on post.
“Many silent prayers were asked to bring my Family and I here to the place we call home,” he said. “God has truly blessed us with this amazing opportunity. I am still overjoyed at the excitement [my wife] Andrea had when I told her we were coming back to Fort Campbell. We are eager and ready to serve as your garrison command sergeant major team for this amazing installation.”
Stackpole enlisted in 1998 as an infantryman and has served with numerous units throughout his Army career, including 6th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

“Chad has served our great nation for more than two decades on and off the battlefield, [and] in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom Sentinel,” Jordan said. “From rifleman to first sergeant, he has served as the sergeant of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and as senior enlisted adviser in multiple commands including the Joint Special Operations Detachment, the Advanced Airborne School at Fort Bragg and most recently in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment – ‘The Old Guard.’”
As the garrison senior enlisted adviser, Stackpole aims to ensure Soldiers and Families on the installation have the tools they need to succeed – whether through connecting units with garrison services or advocating for civilian employees.
“To our team within the garrison … I will work diligently to gain your trust,” he said. “I am an advocate for you and the services you provide our Soldiers, Families and civilians. Know that my door is always open for you, and do not hesitate to share your issues or frustrations when I visit your workplace. I am here to assist and bridge the gap to resolve problems on behalf of Col. Jordan and our Senior Commander Maj. Gen. JP McGee.”

Jordan said Stackpole will be a valuable member of the garrison team, and recognized the incoming command sergeant major’s Family for supporting him during his latest assignment.
“The Army expects its Soldiers to perform and fulfill their obligations, but the unwritten orders are those fulfilled by our Soldiers’ Families,” Jordan said. “As any successful Soldier knows, it’s the love and support of Family at home that makes it possible to focus on the mission, whenever and wherever that mission may be.”
Stackpole said his military career was made possible through his Family’s continued support, and he made sure to thank them during his remarks.

“The longer I serve, the more I appreciate how much you have sacrificed,” he said. “While we do not know what tomorrow will bring, I do know that we will face it together. Please know that your sacrifices during this next endeavor will enable the warfighters of Fort Campbell to stand ready and defend this great nation.”
