The Summertown girls secured a tie for first in their district with a 70-21 home win on senior night over Mt. Pleasant.

The Lady Eagles put the finishing touches on a 24-5 regular season and 5-1 District 10-2A record. Their win over Mt. Pleasant secured a tie with Loretto for the top seed going into the district tournament at Loretto.

The brackets for the girls tournament were expected to be completed Saturday morning.

Summertown’s whirlwind defense wreaked havoc on the Lady Tigers the entire night, with star senior guard Karlie Campbell racing to the basket with steal after steal in the early going to pace her team to a 28-1 lead after one period.

It was much the same in the second with Campbell netting 8 and Braley Burleson hitting all four of her shots from the free throw line to lead the Lady Eagles to a 50-5 halftime lead.

Gabi Long, Ella Busby and Bailey Cramer joined Campbell for Summertown’s 15 third period points and the fourth period was shortened with a running clock.
