Kids Helping Kids donations help domestic violence victims, increase literacy

All current and former Kids Helping Kids Ministry members of the Columbia First United Methodist Church have given of their time and money in the last 10 years.

The group’s projects include over 200 pillows donated to children at Center of Hope in Columbia. Center of Hope is a domestic abuse shelter in Maury County. Over $3,000 in money given has been used for pizza parties or movie nights for mothers and their children who are residents of the shelter. Pillowcases were made by the Loving Hands Ministry at the church.

In addition, the Kids Helping Kids ministry has given 10 years’ worth of donations to the Imagination Library for a total of $5,000, which bought 5,000 books for kids in Maury County.

The children raised the money through bake sales in the church, with the first one being in January 2013. All the money raised is to help other kids in Maury County.
