Bellehaven public hearing Thursday, Work session on Fairview city budget June 6

The proposed development of 250 acres off Northwest Highway and Elrod Road has been an on and off project since 2006. This Thursday, June 1, the proposed Bellehaven Development will go back before the city commission for a vote – but not before citizens have a chance to speak at a public hearing.

The City Commission approved the first reading of the ordinance approving the Major Modification Amendment of the Bellehaven Planned Unit Development (PUD) in April. The modification proposes 513 residential units on 251.16 acres to be developed by D.R. Horton. At the first vote, city attorney Patrick Carter advised the board if the plan meets zoning, they have to approve it under the law. Carter said staff has reviewed the PUD and confirmed it complies with the underlying PUD zoning.

Some citizens have expressed concerns about the density of the development, the quality of the homes built by the developer and the impact on traffic along Northwest Highway.

Thursday’s city commission meeting begins at 7 p.m. at city hall.

The Fairview City Commission will also be hosting a work session on Tuesday, June 6 at 6 p.m. to discuss the 2024 fiscal year budget for the city. The meeting is open to the public.
