Food Truck Rally, Bocce Tournament Set for April 6

Special Olympics Giles County invites the community to come out and support their athletes at two upcoming events. 

Special Olympics Giles County’s Spring Games will be held Tuesday, April 2, beginning at 9 a.m. at the University of Tennessee Southern’s Grissom Soccer Pitch. 

Special Olympics Giles County athletes will gather Tuesday, April 2, for their Spring Games, and the Giles County community is invited to come out and cheer them on.   Submitted

The Spring Games will kick-off with the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Opening Ceremonies. 

Athletes ages 8 and up will compete in various track and field events throughout the day. 

Food Truck Rally, Bocce Tournament

The Special Olympics Giles County Food Truck Rally and Bocce Tournament is set for  Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the GCHS Track. 

Athletes and Unified Partners from the community will compete in a Bocce Tournament. If you are not familiar with bocce, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more and even try your hand at bocce. 

The food truck lineup includes: Ooh La La New Orleans Style Shaved Ice & Cajun Cuisine,  The Spice is Right LLC, Volunteer Fry Co., Bull on the Run, Gettin’ Piggy With It, The Kettle Corn Crew and Toot Fruit Lemonade. 

“Please come out and support our bocce athletes and all things Special Olympics by enjoying all the great food from the many awesome food trucks!” bocce coach and tournament organizer Harolene Johnston said. “This is one of our fund-raisers that helps support all that our athletes do.”

Spectators are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to both events.
