Food.  Clothing.  Shelter.  The basic needs that every person in Rutherford County should want for every other person in Rutherford County!  This is the mission of Charity Chopped in the 'Boro!

It all started with a crazy idea during a tour of the Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville.   I turned to Taylor Loyal, the Rutherford County Second Harvest Food Bank Representative, and shared my idea.  He looked at me, not wanting to hurt my feelings, and said, "Don't worry, Shannon.  It will pass."

Well, it didn't "pass".  Instead, it came to life in ways we never expected!  Now, in our third year, we are more encouraged than ever about our battle against hunger, homelessness, and gaps of opportunity in Rutherford County.

Charity Chopped in the 'Boro partners with three very special local charities that help provide food, shelter and clothing to people in Rutherford County.  Second Harvest Food Bank, Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity, and Amelia's Closet.  We help them raise money for their organizations by hosting a cooking competition and dining event.

We create cooking teams to represent each charity.  The teams are made up of celebrity "chefs" and ACTUAL chefs.  They wage a  spirited and hard fought culinary battle that takes place in front of a live audience.  The winning team gets an extra $5,000 for their charity!
