Changes are coming to Tennessee high school football over then next two years.
PLEASANT VIEW – Cheatham County girls basketball coach Jim Gibbs was named the county’s best coach at the Main Street awards ceremony on Thursday, July 11 at Livery Stables in Pleasant View.
ASHLAND CITY – After Eric Hatley’s surprising resignation as the Cheatham County football coach the Cubs have turned to Dwayne Daniel to lead the program on an interim basis.
CHARLOTTE – Creek Wood football coach Houston Thiel said he believes this Creek Wood team has the potential to go further in the playoffs than last season’s 7-4 team that lost in the first round.
ASHLAND CITY – Cheatham County Central will begin its 2019 season with a non-conference game at Hillwood on Aug. 23 as the Cubs will look to improve on last season’s playoff appearance.

PLEASANT VIEW – Toby Miles has left Sycamore High School where he served as athletics director and boys basketball coach, and the school has named Steve Dodd as the new coach.
The Sycamore War Eagles got an early start to football season last month with spring practice. The War Eagles are taking some time off now but will be back to work after the dead period in July.
Alycia Pennington led Sycamore in many offensive statistics this past season, earning her the Main Street Preps/Cheatham County Exchange Softball Player of the Year Award.
Harpeth junior Jackson Smith has been selected as the Cheatham County Exchange/Mainstreet Preps Boys Soccer after leading the district in goals with 29 this season.
Sycamore coach Matt Carrigan signaled to the bullpen for reliever Matthew Green after starting pitcher Bryan Ramirez ran into trouble against Greenbrier in the second inning of Friday’s District 9-AA title game.
MURFREESBORO – Abbi Douglas felt some pain when she landed on the Westview bench while chasing a loose ball in Saturday’s Class AA girls basketball championship game. The pain didn’t hurt nearly as much a few minutes later.
The Dickson County girls basketball team started the game well behind a loud home crowd but they weren’t able to keep up the momentum, losing to Mt. Juliet 74-61 in the sub-state game on Saturday.
ASHLAND CITY – Cheatham County Central will open the girls Class AA state tournament against Grainger High School on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at MTSU’s Murphy Center.
